Third at PWC Championship

The University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s cross country team finished third in the 2009 Hawaiian Airlines Pacific West Cross Country Championships held in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, Calif.
The Vulcans tallied 99 points in the seven-team race with Brigham Young University-Hawaii taking top honors with 22 points. They were followed by Hawaii Pacific University (42), UHH, Academy of Art University (104), Grand Canyon University (126), Notre Dame de Namur University (151) and Chaminade University (154).
Kirsta Andrew (19:37.7) and Nina Hagemann (19:43.8) finished 9th and 10th in the 5k race. Malia Williams was the next Vulcan at 21:40.1 to finish in 20th place. Completing the Vulcan squad were Lauren Vieira (27th, 22:33.5) and Liliana DeSmither (33rd, 24:10.5).
Although BYU-Hawaii captured five of the top seven individual spots, HPU’s Quinn Horochuck claimed the individual title with a time of 18:53.8.
