The 2009 University of Hawaii at Hilo softball team had four players named 2008-09 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athletes.
Earning the honors were returning senior outfielder Sierra Green and sophomore pitcher Amber Waracka, and former players Brianne Adams and Malia Naukana-Christensen.
To qualify for NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors, players must maintain a 3.50 grade point average throughout the year.
Green was a second-team all-conference selection. She led the team with a .366 batting average.
Waracka was 15-12 with a 1.79 ERA and twice named PacWest Pitcher of the Week (March 16 and April 27).
The Vulcans were ranked 70th out of the 200-plus Division II programs with a 2.948 team GPA.
