The University of Hawaii at Hilo opened a five-match home stretch with a 3-0 victory over Notre Dame de Namur University in Pacific West Conference play in the UHH gymnasium.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-12.

The Vulcans improved to 18-1 overall and 8-1 in the PacWest while the Argonauts are 8-14 overall and 5-3 in the PacWest.

Katie Swenson tallied 36 assists in spreading out the offense which produced a .321 attack percentage. Josimara Pinheiro's nine kills led the Vulcans' 42 kill attack.

Defensively, Lauren Tonokawa had 11 of the team's 41 digs. At the net, the Vulcans tallied one solo block and 18 block assists.

"I think we came out with good confidence and our early success blocking the ball, while it should pick our team up, sort of lulled us down," UHH head coach Bruce Atkinson said. "Hopefully, tomorrow we can focus on bringing more energy to the court."
