The bottom fell out of the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s perfect season as Dixie State College handed the Vulcans a 3-0 loss in Pacific West Conference play in St. George, Utah.
DSC won 27-25, 25-19 and 25-21. The Vulcans record drops to 16-1 overall and 6-1 in the PWC while the Red Storm is 11-4 and 5-1.
“We played poorly in every aspect of the game and it caught up to us,” UHH head coach Bruce Atkinson said. “We just struggled in so many areas. We struggled in serve receive, controlling free balls, roll shots and it cost us the match.”
The Vulcans hit a season-low .081 with 40 kills on 136 attempts with 29 errors.
Morgan Bonney and Fabiane Seben had 11 kills each to lead the Vulcans.
