Vulcans are 2-0 in the PacWest
Saturday, September 26th, 2009
The University of Hawaii at Hilo beat Brigham Young University-Hawaii 2-0 in a Pacific West Conference match on Keaau High School field in Keaau, Hawaii.
The Vulcans improve to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the PWC while the Seasiders fall to 2-4 and 1-2.
Logan Montenegro got the Vulcans on the board when he broke past the Seasider defense and lobbed the ball over the oncoming goalie.
Eduardo Gutierrez added a penalty kick at the 60-minute mark of the game.
With his team winning three of their last four games, UHH head coach Cam Camarena is still concerned yet happy with his team’s play
“I had to experiment with our line-up because of what has happened to the team … injury after injury after injury,” Camarena said. “We lose Vince [Jacob], I have to switch things around. We lose [Eduardo] Ayala, things have to change. I haven’t had the same players for every game.
“But that’s what I like about this team is that we are very deep. We are missing some key players. If we don’t lose the key players, the other guys can come in and do a good job.”
