Kelly Leong

Sports Information Director

Kelly Leong was named the Sports Information Director in November 1989.

As the SID, Leong is responsible for six men’s sports -- baseball (Division I), basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis -- and seven women’s sports -- basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. He writes season previews and features as well as designs and edits media guides and the Vulcan website. During events, he is responsible for portions of event management and post-game events.

Leong also secured corporate partnerships and negotiated radio rights for the Vulcan Athletic Department and developed sponsorships for the Annual Vulcan Scholarship Golf Classic. He has also has served on the Vulcan Athletic Hall of Fame selection committee since 1993.

On the national level, Leong is the regional coordinator for the Daktronics Women’s Soccer All-America Program and a member of the College Sports Information Director's Association's committee of community relations.

Before taking on a career in athletics, Leong worked broadcast journalism in Hilo after graduating from the University of Hawaii with a degree in Journalism.

Leong has two sons - Ethyn (13) and Jye (10).
